Auckland

The time has come to say farewell to Auckland or “Sky City” as the locals prefer. I’ve spent the last week here concreting the purchase of my new campervan whom I’ve named Gertrude. Purchasing a car has never been a simpler task. In New Zealand, a lot of the bullshit is removed from everyday tasks. When bought my car I simply paid for it, filled out an insurance form, the same for registration, and I was off. No DMV, no lines, no hidden fees or insurance companies. Just the way it should be.
Auckland as a whole is an under-rated city if you ask me. The kiwis in the surrounding territories don’t speak too highly of it but I think it’s just because they don’t understand what it is that makes up a proper city. Auckland has all the little nooks and crannies you’d like to find when exploring; the things that truly make it unique. Sure the people can be a bit crude but that’s the way it goes in most cities right? There is a small music scene to speak of and plenty to do on any given night. Tons of international residents also makes for a healthy mix of humans and interesting interactions around every corner. I found Auckland to be quite nice and really look forward to the next time I’m get to penetrate it.
Also, I apologize for the lack of photos. My camera has been in the repair shop eating money and is now healthy again. I will be heading up to Northland tomorrow where I’m told there is a visual feast to enjoy. Then my camera will get back on it’s proper diet of eating photographs, not money, as any good camera should. Wish me and Gerty luck as we plunge northward.

    Hi Andrew,

you didn’t tell me you named your Van Gertrude. Very funny and lovely. Marian told me you had a nice day yesterday. I was a littel bit jealous hearing you have done a fire on the beach and ate sausages. I hope and think you had a lot of fun. Hope the next days will be fantastic as this day – maybe much better!?!? I’m curious to hear what happen the next days?
    Thinking of you.

    Lovely greetz

    Eva!

So nice to hear from you… Thanks for checking out my blog. That night was lots of fun, for sure. There will be many more fires and many many more sausages. Don’t forget to call me when you’re leaving Auckland.. I’ll meet you on the beach somewhere.

    Lovely Greetz!

Hey, I love your site. It seems most people don’t really bother writing articles that lack substance nowadays.
