Ephemeral Day ephem·er·al : adjective : lasting one day only; having come into existence and ceasing to exist within one day's time.

Thank you for taking interest in the first annual Ephemeral Day. Ephemeral Day is a new celebration that will take place, for the first time on the winter solstice this year. Sunday, December 21, 2008. The idea is as follows:

On Ephemeral Day groups will gather at the site noted on the map below. Each group will build individual structures designed to burn well; one structure per group. Having worked all day on creating a structure, each group, as the sun sets on the shortest day of the year, sets their structures on fire and burn away what has just been created.

That's it. It is a celebration in recognition of all the days from that point forth getting brighter; literally, each day will be little longer than the last from the winter solstice until the summer solstice next year. Come build. Come burn. Come celebrate. The map below shows the location. Arrive whenever you feel it is necessary give your team enough time to have your structure ready to burn at sunset.
